A native of Washington, D.C. and a graduate of Calvary Bible Institute, Pastor Simmons is armed with a word of destiny.  She is the proud daughter of Pastors Keith & Iola Johnson who instilled in her the values of a woman of integrity.

In her developmental years of Christian ministry, she served under the tutelage of Bishop Alfred A.                          Owens, Jr., D. Min. and Co-Pastor Susie Owens of Greater Mt. Calvary Holy Church in                                     Washington, D.C. where she nurtured her passion for God and cultivated her yielded                                       lifestyle which has led to an  annointing to preach and teach the word of God with                                          authority, revelation, and deliverance.

After hearing the clarion call of God and accepting the untimely death of her late husband                                      Superintendent Nathan L. Simmons, Pastor Simmons transitioned from mourning to                                    ministy serving as   pastor of Citadel of Hope Evangelistic COGIC for over 2 years.

In  May 2009, determined to reach her God-given potential, Pastor Simmons                                                  launched  the New Citadel of Hope Christian Church, a cutting edge, multicultural,                                           multi-faceted,  family-oriented ministry that reaches in LOVE, teaches to LIVE,                                                  and builds to LAST.  Pastor Simmons is presently a student at Regent University                                               where she is studying to obtain her Bachelor of Arts degree in Religious &                                                        Biblical Studies.
Her journey of elevation during troubled times is a testament to those that                                                         mourn that   God gives beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the                                                            garment of praise for   the spirit of heaviness that they might be called trees of                                                righteousness, and the planting    of the Lord that He might be glorified.

Known for her challenging preaching and thought-provoking teaching, her                                                       messages motivate, encourage, and produce effective change.  Pastor                                                             Simmons says, “Life is full   of battles and struggles.  God has positioned                                                          each of us to win.  Along the way you  may get injured.  Don’t focus on the w                                                     ound, rather look for the scar.  The scar says I am                                                                                                  healed.”
